As promised, tonight’s blog will be a showcase of some of the design/art-related things I’ve found in the past few days from my trawls on various design blogs, including Behance.net, Design You Trust, Drawn! and NOTCOT. First up, though, you might notice that I added a little mini-bio in the sidebar, as well as links to the various sites I am a member of, having just found that WordPress allows you to add a “text” widget which also allows HTML. Awesome. I might add other custom widget sort of things in the future if I can think of anything.
But onto the crux of the blog.
These first couple of images are photographs by Benoit Paillé. These images are just really clean and well-composed, and I like the way in which he uses water. More photographs after the jump.
How about the tone and colour in the next few? They’re by a photographer known as Irene L.
I’m not really sure why I like this next one. The macabre nature of the setting juxtaposed against the balloons (with colours symbolising love) gives the whole image a very surreal feel. The chairs leave something left to wonder about- why are they there? Why are there so many? Why are they so sparsely placed?
And following on the theme of people being hung or held up…
These are by a pair of photographers named Russ & Reyn and are somewhat reminiscent of Penn & Teller’s “Shadows”. Never heard of it? Penn & Teller is perhaps the most famous illusionist/comedian duo of last century, and they were revolutionary in coming up with many new tricks. Their “Shadows” video is below.
Kind of creepy, wouldn’t you say? Well, how about this then. Koji Suzuki is the author of the horror novel series Ringu, of which The Ring movies were based on. He has written another story, called “Drop”. But this time he didn’t put it into a book- he’s taken a different approach. Marketed as “Japan’s creepiest toilet paper”, Suzuki decided to print his novel onto toilet paper. Sure, you’ll never be left without something to read, but it might just scare the shit out of you. Could be useful, actually.
Speaking of toilets, here’s another thing you’d sit on. It’s a chair that spells “chair”. Pretty self-explanatory, really.
Anyway, back to the topic of reading material, does anyone remember or have you heard of Georges Remi? Probably not. How about the name he is better known by, Hergé? Still no? Well, how about Tintin? Ah, there we go. The Hergé Museum has recently opened in Brussels, Belgium, celebrating the works of the artist that brought us The Adventures Of Tintin, that I (a well as many others) used to love back in the day.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the movie coming out next year, called The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn, featuring Simon Pegg as the voice of Inspector Thompson and Daniel Craig as the voice of Red Rackham (the pirate).
And about movies, here’s a simple site called 3 Frame Movies which provides a humorous of some famous movies using only three frames of illustrations.
Also, I mentioned The Lion King in a previous blog. Well, I was listening to the soundtrack today and wondered what is actually said in the openingof “Circle Of Life”. Well I looked it up, so here it is:

It’s interesting how these lyrics quite simply sum up what happens in the opening of the film, and yet it sounds so cool. And speaking of which, check out Gabe Bondoc‘s version of the aforementioned song. Take a look at the tags in “more info”. It pretty much sums up my (and pretty much everyone who’s watched it) feelings about the movie.
Anyway, that’s all for today. I hope this blog wasn’t too disjointed. It’s weird, it’s 1:35am right now and I don’t really feel tired at all. How odd. Ah well, I better get some sleep or else I’ll regret it tomorrow.

colour \ˈkə-lər\ n. a visual attribute of things that results from the light they emit or transmit or reflect.
I really love colour. Colour is an integral part to the way we perceive everything (if we aren’t blind) and although it may seem as if it’s just another part of this universe, it’s the way in which colours can be put together to create something aesthetically pleasing that defines art. I feel as if my blog is becoming a sort of art archive, but it’s all I’ve found recently that’s worth blogging about, and my original purpose of this blog was as an archive for all the cool stuff I find on the net. Before I had this blog, I would see something cool and then I would move on, and I would never see it again, but with this I’ll be able to look back at older posts and be inspired once more.
So anyway, the topic of this blog is colour. The following images will be of artworks that stood out to me in terms of colour as I’ve browsed through FFFFOUND! in the past few days. As with my other blogs, click the images for a larger view.
This first image just appears to be really clean to me, showing the moods or feelings associated with certain colours.
I’ve mentioned in my previous blogs that I like typography.

The next image is a good example of two of the aspects of art I like, put together; typography and colour.
I like the use of colour and the arrangement of the items in the next image. The way the rainbow has been overlayed on top of the items gives it a really nice look, and I’m a big fan of the dirty paper effect as seen in this artwork and the previous image.
Speaking of colour, I think I should go to India one day. They have a whole festival dedicated to it.
Holi, also called the Festival of Colours, is a popular Hindu spring festival observed in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other countries with large Hindu diaspora. The main day, Holi, also known as Dhulheti, Dhulandi or Dhulendi, is celebrated by people throwing colored powder and colored water at each other.
Not much to say about this next one. I think it’s a rooster. I like the brightness of the whole piece and the light, complementary colours.
Now this image is one that I really like. The whole tone of the photograph and the once again complementary colours of the balloons really caught my eye when I first saw it. A great photo with great editing.
Another photo of coloured balloons. The balloons in this one contrast the kind of monotonic hue of the background.
I’m not sure what this next image is of; I think it’s either balloons or flowers or both. What matters is that it’s got some nice colours.
Here’s an image that will catch your eye. I don’t know what it is or how they did it, but it looks really cool.
Moving on to some other artworks- these aren’t as bright as the previous ones have been, but they still look good nonetheless.
I don’t know what style this is, but I like it. The red and brown splatters have been done really nicely, and I like the randomness of the flecks of paint all over it, with the focus on the more structured face in the middle of the chaos.
Again, a woman. But this time she’s somehow been fused with a deer in a forest. I can’t quite put my finger on why I like this one, but it looks interesting. Reminds me of an ad I’ve seen, can’t remember what for.
And now the last two are back to some brighter pieces.
The first is quite simple, but it’s that quality that I like about it. The swirls are simple but elegant, and I like the way it fades from blue to purple and then to red and yellow.
And the last one is simple. I don’t think I need to say much about it except that it’s a photograph of a photograph of some sky against the sky. So, I heard you like photographs of the sky…
Hmm, just as a random afterthought, here’s another photograph. This is of the desk I spend most of my life at, and the one I’m sitting at now, writing this blog.
